Stars pick up two wins in the pool over Mounties

Both teams for the Western Boone Swimming & Diving program brought home a win on Thursday night. The girls defeated the Mounties with a score of 111-74. The 200-yard medley relay team of Jenna Twitty, Micah Hole, Hannah Hayden, and Katherine Aliff started off the meet with a second-place finish; the team of Rebecca Rustin, Cara Hanna, Lindsey Steimel, and Lilly Maners finished fourth. The Stars finished 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle thanks to Arianna Stieber, Samantha Jones, and Kaitlyn Crowley respectively. Twitty earned an individual win in the 200-yard IM, followed by Hayden in third and Annabelle Mickschl in sixth. In the 50-yard freestyle, Aliff finished in first place; Maners took third, and Brooklynn Schiery finished in sixth. Leelah Fettig once again remained undefeated, this time breaking a Southmont pool record with her diving score of 278.20. Maisa Kent-Doolan and Hanna also placed third and fourth. Hayden and Crowley finished third and fourth in a close 100-yard butterfly race, followed by Mickschl in sixth. The Stars finished 1-2-3 again in the 100-yard freestyle, this time with Adelaide Jones, Rashel Anderson, and Aliff respectively. Stieber earned another win for the Stars in the 500-yard freestyle, followed in second by S. Jones and in fifth by Steimel. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Anderson, A. Jones, Stieber, and Aliff won the event; the team of Crowley, Hayden, Twitty, and S. Jones finished in third place; the team of Schiery, Mickschl, Hole, and Maners finished fifth. A. Jones, Anderson, and Twitty once more took the top three places for the Stars respectively in the 100-yard backstroke. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Hole, Rustin, and Hanna finished fourth, fifth, and sixth. Finishing the meet with one more win for the Stars was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Stieber, S. Jones, A. Jones, and Anderson. The team of Mickschl, Maners, Steimel, and Crowley followed in third place. The boys also defeated the Mounties on Thursday, finishing with a final score of 102-72. The 200-yard medley relay team of Jacob Norman, Jude Balke, Tanner Weakley, and Isaac Threlkeld started the meet with a second-place finish, followed closely by the team of Daniel Talbott, Zach Connors, Malachi Catterson, and Chase Collier in third place. Wyatt Barnett won the 200-yard freestyle; Talbott and Collier finished third and fourth. Norman and Threlkeld finished first and second respectively in the 200-yard IM, with Catterson close behind in fourth. Weakley finished second in the 50-yard freestyle; Balke also finished fourth and Artie Milliser finished in fifth. Xander Rouse won the diving event for the boys against the Mounties. Threlkeld, W. Barnett, and Catterson finished 1-2-3 respectively in the 100-yard butterfly. In the 100-yard freestyle, Connors, E. Barnett, and Milliser placed second, third, and fourth. Weakley earned a win for the Stars in the 500-yard freestyle, followed in third by Talbott and Collier in fourth. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of E. Barnett, Collier, Talbott, and W. Barnett finished second in a close race. The team of Balke, Catterson, Connors, and Milliser finished in third. Norman won the 100-yard backstroke, followed by E. Barnett in fifth. Balke and Connors finished second and fourth respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of W. Barnett, Norman, Threlkeld, and Weakley earned one more win for the Stars.
