The Western Boone Stars played in their first home game of the season on Tuesday evening. The Stars bats which got hot in Tennessee last weekend stayed hot against Bethesda. The team recorded nine hits in the game with Hawkins, Marcum, Kopriva, and Velazquez each supplying two hits. Eli Duncan lead the Stars with three RBIs and Owen Kiplinger added two RBIs on his double. Bryce Kopriva started the game on the mound and was sharp through three innings allowing just two runs while striking out four. Jackson Grimes relieved Kopriva in the fourth inning and completed the game. Grimes left some pitches up in the fourth inning allowing Bethesda to plate three runs. After that, number 7 settled in nicely and did not allow another hit or run for the last three innings of the game while recording five strike outs. Catcher Cole Wiley played a tremendous defensive game and helped his pitching staff a ton with his blocking behind the plate. The Stars move to 4-0 on the season and head to Greencastle Thursday for their next game.
