Stars host Frankfort and Clinton Prairie in first track meet of the season

Last night, April 4th, the Western Boone Stars girls and boys track team hosted Clinton Prairie and Frankfort for a triangular meet. It was a windy yet perfect evening for some exceptional running and various events. Both of these schools arrived timely and were well prepared to compete, this pushed all athletes to be motivated and push themselves the entirety of the evening. In the end Western Boone Girls came in first with 103.5 points, followed by Clinton Prairie girls with 37.5 points, and Frankfort girls with 26 points. The Frankfort Boys came in first place with 64 points, followed by the Western Boone Boys in a close second with 52 points beating Clinton Prairie boys by one point (51 points). The girls dominated in both areas of field events and running. Emmy Roys took first for both shot and discuss while Kennedy Kiger followed close behind earning second in both. There were some young athletes making their mark for the team; Isabel Grady came in first for high jump followed by Emmerson Gott earning third. Kierra Koch earned several points for the team in a multitude of events earning first in long jump, the 200-meter dash, anchoring the 4x100m relay, and she also placed second in the 100-meter dash. Some highlights for the boys include the 4x1 team taking first, Mason Tomes earning first place in the 100-meter dash, and Carter Hanna placing first in the mile.
