4/6 Western Boone Junior High Softball The Western Boone Lady Stars Junior High Softball A team returned to their winning ways last night picking up their second win of the week and completing the series sweep over Clinton Prairie 8-5. The Stars were able to score those runs on 7 hits, led by Ashlynn Foster going 2-2 on the evening including a key two out triple in the 4th inning. Ally Lewis got the start on the mound allowing 5 earned runs, on 5 hits striking out 5 and walking 4. Mickey Burns came in for relief with 1 out in the 4th inning and the go-ahead at 3rd but managed to get out of the inning without giving up a run. The B team improved but still came up short in a 5-4 loss to the Gophers. They were lead at the plate by Brooke Vaugh, Safira Anderson, and Layna Zigler. Raina Lutz and Caydence Paris teamed up on the mound allowing 5 earned runs on 2 hits and striking out 5. 4/4 Western Boone Junior High Softball The Western Boone Lady Stars Junior High Softball A team opened their season last night in strong fashion with a 6-1 win over Clinton Prairie. The stars took an early 2-1 lead in the in the first inning plating two more runs in the 3rd and 5th innings each. The Stars were lead at the plate with by Ally Lewis and Kenzlei Mathews going 3 for 3 and 2 for 3 respectively on the evening. Mickey Burns gets the win pitching 4 innings striking out 4, Lewis came in for 2 innings of relief striking out 3. The B team opened their season last night as well. The Stars settled after allowing 7 runs in the first inning to tighten things up ultimately loosing 10-6. The Stars were lead at the plate by Caydence Paris going 2 for 2, Hannah Ranney, Bailey Ford and Layna Zigler also recorded hits on the evening. Paris also pitched well giving up no hits striking out 4. Both teams will be back in action tonight at Tri-West with the A team taking the field at 5:30, B game to follow.
