The Stars traveled to Greencastle Thursday evening and suffered their first loss of the year falling 6-4 to the Tiger Cubs. The Stars played a sloppy first inning of defense allowing three unearned runs. In the top of the second the boys responded and took a 4-3 lead which they held until the fifth inning when the defense again stumbled allowing two more unearned runs. Greencastle closed the game with a tough right hander who the Stars were unable to score any more runs against. The game was a great example for the boys that they can play with anyone when they play together and don’t make errors. Carter Marcum played tremendous defense and five Stars recorded one hit. Layton Yancey made his varsity debut on the mound in the seventh inning pitching very well. Conference starts next week and the boys are looking to change the narrative as to their expected finishing spot amongst the Sagamore competition.
