Both the Varsity and JV golf teams were in action Saturday, seeing 17 golfers play two separate events at two separate courses. The Varsity participated in the 21 team field at Twin Bridges in the Danville Invitational. The Stars shot 388 as a team, lead once again by Levi LaGrange's 86, as he continued his hot start to the season. Luke Barta - 98, Marcus Stepp - 103, Damian Stout - 101 rounded out the scoring for the Stars, while Isaiah Grady once again played solid and shot 108. The Stars continue to look for consistency tee to green but are really focused on cleaning up putting issues which have hampered the team up to this point. The JV competed at Rivercrest Golf Club, participating in the Covington Early Bird. The competition was a mix of two participating varsity teams, (Covington and Sheridan), the Stars JV team, with the field then being completed by the Harrison (W Lafayette) freshmen team. The Western Boone team was also further divided into two separate teams in the scramble format, so results were not program specific. Several beginning Star players made their golfing debut. The format and course provided a great opportunity for those players to get their first taste of competitive golf and gain valuable insight into handling the highs and lows of the game. The match of the day saw Evan Terwiske and Luke LaGrange go toe to toe with two experienced varsity Covington players. Tied going into the last hole, the Stars came up an inch short of halving the hole and tying the match over their 18 holes. Cole Ramsey and Maddex Gadbury were also competitive, battling their varsity counterparts.
