The Stars golf team travelled to Crawfordsville Country Club last night to compete in a three-way match vs. North Putnam and host Southmont. The Stars and Mounties saw a relatively even, well played match among the top five competitors, while North Putnam struggled to keep pace. In the end, the Mounties were able to pull out a six-stroke victory over Western Boone, 173 - 179. North Putnam turned in a team score of 223. Finally feeling healthy, coming off a recent wrist injury, Marcus Stepp paced the Stars for the first time this season, shooting a personal best 41. Solid and consistent as always, Levi LaGrange followed with a 42. Damian Stout 47, Luke Barta 49 rounded out the scoring while Isaiah Grady turned in another 54, as he has each match so far this season. In the JV portion of the match, the competition was even tighter as the Mounties edged the Stars by a single stroke, winning 225 - 226. North Putnam did not have a team competing. Luke LaGrange's 49 and Evan Terwiske's 50 were tops for the Stars. Cole Ramsey and Maddex Gadbury each produced their typically solid rounds. Evan Koch continued to show improvement in his first season of playing and a newcomer to JV, Jase Bailey, shot 62 in his first golf match ever. The Stars host Lafayette Central Catholic and Crawfordsville tonight at Cool Lake.
