The game was close early, but Lebanon scored 18 runs in the last two innings to win 21-1. “Last night we had multiple scoring chances where we couldn’t get the key hit,” Lebanon head coach Rick Cosgray said. “Tonight, we were able to string it together. It was good to see us break it open with the bats.” After a scoreless first inning, Lebanon took a 3-0 lead in the second, scoring on a wild pitch and a 2-run single by Bryce Nelson. The score remained that way until the fourth. After the Tigers loaded the bases with no outs, a sacrifice fly by Corbin Wells made it 4-0. A 2-run single by Cayman Huntsman made it 6-0. Western Boone got a run in the fifth on a Marco Velazquez single. Head coach Michael Nance said it was a disappointing week for his team. “It was just an embarrassing week for us,” Nance said. “I am going to stick with our guys, I believe in them and I know what they are capable of. The wheels fell off a little bit and I believe in them, we just have to get back at it tomorrow. It’s been a frustrating 48 hours.” The Stars had come into the game 5-5, but have now dropped six of seven. “We have to work on our mental toughness,” Nance said. “We have to care enough to not get beat like that, field ground balls and hold runners. We have a selfish approach right now and it’s unacceptable.” The Stars travel to Tri-West Saturday. Will Willems is the Sports Editor of the Lebanon Reporter. Follow him on Twitter @Will_Willems.
