Western Boone sent their varsity baseball team to Clinton Prairie Monday evening. The Stars came away with an 8-4 victory. The Stars were ice cold both offensively and defensively in the first inning. The Gophers scored 4 runs in the first frame, two coming off of Stars errors. The guys kept the course and the pitching of Walker, Hawkins, and Bryce Kopriva never allowed another runner past second base. The bats came alive in the fourth inning. Marcum, Kiplinger, and Jackson lead the team with two hits a piece. Kiplinger lead with 3 RBIs. Overall with the exception of the first inning, the boys played like they’re capable and earned a team victory. The celebration will be extremely short lived as the Warriors of Danville will be at Western Boone for this week’s conference series starting at 5:30 tomorrow.
