Lady Stars shutout Athenians in varsity softball

Gabby Lewis didn't allow a single run against Crawfordsville Athenians Varsity, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Western Boone Varsity Stars to a 10-0 victory on Tuesday Western Boone Varsity Stars fired up the offense in the first inning. Lewis grounded out, scoring one run. Western Boone Varsity Stars tallied five runs in the third inning. Lewis, Makenzie Amich, Kirstin McCormich, and Emma Shirley all drove in runs in the frame. A single by Christina Susdorf in the first inning was a positive for Crawfordsville Athenians Varsity. Lewis took the win for Western Boone Varsity Stars. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out nine and walking zero. Molly Pierce was on the rubber for Crawfordsville Athenians Varsity. Pierce lasted four and a third innings, allowing 11 hits and ten runs while striking out two. Western Boone Varsity Stars tallied 11 hits. Emily Conyer, Shirley, Lewis, and Morganne Grant all managed multiple hits for Western Boone Varsity Stars. Conyer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Western Boone Varsity Stars in hits. Western Boone Varsity Stars didn't commit a single error in the field. Shirley had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
