The Huskies from Hamilton Heights came to Dover Friday evening for a match up with the Stars Varsity Baseball team. The Stars won 8-4. The game was electric from the jump. Gavin Hawkins singled on the second pitch of the game, Marcum singled on the next pitch on a hit and run moving Hawkins to third. Just one pitch after that, Luke Jackson hit his third home run of the year to put the Stars up 3-0 in an instant. Logan Walker started his second game of the week and pitched two fine innings. The plan was for Walker to have a short outing in preparation of a long week coming up. Walker commanded the ball well and allowed one run. Yancey pitch briefly before Grimes came in for the final four innings. Grimes for the second outing in a row looked poised and had his best stuff. Grimes recorded 6 Ks, 2 hits, and didn’t give up a run. Offensively, Hawkins stayed hot all night and lead with three hits. Marcum and Jackson both recorded two hits. Wiley provided a boost late with a double off the centerfield wall. Overall this was just a great team win where the boys played sound defense and took advantage of offensive opportunities. The Stars host Traders Point Monday before a mid-week Sagamore series with Frankfort. Next Saturday, the boys host Clinton Central in a double header, should be a fun day honoring the moms for Mothers Day!
