On Monday May 8th, the Stars Varsity Baseball team hosted the Traders Point Knights. The Stars earned a 14-9 victory. Brennan Kopriva started on the mound in just his third campaign as a freshman. After a couple of innings of solid pitching, he was relieve by junior Cole Wiley. Wiley catches for the most part but did a fine job of keeping the Knights in check for four innings. Hunter Brose and Logan Walker both pitched late in the contest and made the pitches needed to end the game. Defensively the Stars played a below average game but senior Luke Wirey made a couple solid plays in the outfield to help the Stars when it really mattered. Offensively the Stars were lead by sophomore shortstop, Gavin Hawkins. Hawkins reached base four times in the contest with three hits and drew a walk. The Stars are right back in action tonight as they head to Frankfort for the first of two Sagamore conference games this week with the Hot Dogs.
