The Western Boone Junior High Cross Country team hosted Danville and North Montgomery for their second home meet of the season. Despite the heat and strong competition, the Stars stood out with Ari Smith winning the boys’ race and Bristol McCord and Hayley Trojnar finishing first and second overall in the girls’ race. For the Lady Stars, Bristol McCord claimed her first-ever first-place finish with a season-best time of 15:02. Right behind her in second place overall was Hayley Trojnar, who tied her season best with a 15:17 finish. Lydia Boggs crossed the line in 18:24, Alisha Manning battled back from illness earlier in the week to finish in 18:48, and Skylar Yarger persevered through the heat to complete the course in 25:52. On the boys' side, Ari Smith once again led the way, taking first place overall with a time of 12:20. Also finishing strong in the Stars’ top five were Hayden Trenary, Griffin Johanson, Wyatt Delp, and Liam Sartin. In a large and competitive field, every Western Boone boy finished in under 16 minutes, showing the team’s depth and consistency. The Stars continue to gain momentum as they head into the heart of the season.
