The Jr. High Baseball Blue Stars travelled to Southmont to take on the Mounties Wednesday night. The Stars offense got off to a fast start, with Aiden Lester, Owen Young and Noah Cole all reaching base safely. Aiden would go on to score on a wild pitch and Levi Hayden sent Owen home with an RBI fielder's choice, putting two runs on the board in favor of WEBO. Aiden Lester took the hill and pitched a gem, striking out the first batter he faced to set up a three up and three down bottom of the first - thanks to some good glove work by Levi Hayden at first base. Josiah Williamson got the WEBO offense going again with a frozen rope to the outfield. Charlie Jones and Aiden Lester followed suit with hits of their own, bringing Josiah home to make the score 3 - 0. Aiden went back to work on the mound, mowing down another Mountie batter and Owen Young did the rest, making a smooth play on a grounder and then snagging a fly ball at second. The Stars exploded in the 3rd, batting through the order and putting 9 runs on the board. Aiden finished off the Mounties with 3 consecutive strikeouts, giving WEBO the win and Aiden a perfect game with a final score of 12 - 0. There was no shortage of offensive heroes on the night. Aiden was perfect at the plate as well as on the mound, going 2 for 2 with a walk, a stolen base, 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Owen Young was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Noah Cole was 1 for 2 with a walk, a stolen base, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Levi Hayden continued to attack the ball and was 1 for 2 with a walk, a run scored and 2 RBIs. Josiah Williamson was 1 for 1 with a beautifully hit ball, a walk, 2 runs scored and an RBI. And Charlie Jones was a perfect 2 for 2 with 3 stolen bases, a run scored and 2 RBIs. There was lots to celebrate as the Red team played the nightcap of the double header and won a thriller 2-1, behind an amazing pitching performance by Easton Nance. The Blue Stars will make their final road trip of the season in Frankfort on Monday night, where they'll look to keep the momentum rolling. Go STARS!
