The Western Boone Stars competed in the Sagamore Conference Tournament on Saturday at Rocky Ridge Golf Club, earning a 5th place finish. It would be a difficult day to summarize as the weather, conditions and Stars play would be a mixed bag. An adjusted schedule due to the potential for inclement weather moved the Stars into pairings with Frankfort, Lebanon and Crawfordsville in a shotgun start format. The weather would become somewhat of a factor as humid conditions in the morning were broken by a brief downpour that the players competed through without any halt in play, followed by a quick increase in the heat and humidity. Though each of the Stars were competitive within their pairings and were in fact the best scoring team in their group, the day could be best described as "just okay" as no one played poorly, but not able to elevate their play to compete for the title either. The team finished with a score of 356. The highlights were Levi LaGrange's 82, earning him first team all-conference for the third time in his career, followed by Marcus Stepp & Damian Stout, both turning in 90s to earn second team honors. Luke Barta's 94 completed the scoring while Isaiah Grady's 96 was a really solid day for him.
