Varsity softball traveled to Lawrence North for double header Saturday

1st game Saturday's game against Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats was a heartbreaker for Western Boone Varsity Stars, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. The game was tied at four with Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats batting in the bottom of the sixth when Sydney Moss homered on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Western Boone Varsity Stars got on the board in the first inning. Western Boone Varsity Stars scored one run when Emily Conyer doubled. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats tied things up at four. Anna Mauck drove in one when Mauck singled. Kate Dowden was the winning pitcher for Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats. The lefty went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out eight and walking zero. Gabby Lewis took the loss for Western Boone Varsity Stars. The hurler went six innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits and striking out ten. Natalie Bozinovski started the game for Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher surrendered four runs on six hits over two innings, walking zero Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats launched two home runs on the day. Moss had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Mauck had a long ball in the third inning. Western Boone Varsity Stars totaled six hits. Emma Shirley and Conyer each had multiple hits for Western Boone Varsity Stars. Conyer and Shirley each collected two hits to lead Western Boone Varsity Stars. Game #2 Western Boone Varsity Stars fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-0 loss to Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats on Saturday. Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats scored on a double by Gabby Peck and a single by Sydney Moss in the first inning. The Western Boone Varsity Stars struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats, giving up 11 runs. In the first inning, Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats got their offense started when Peck doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. A double by Emily Conyer in the first inning was a positive for Western Boone Varsity Stars. Moss pitched Lawrence North Varsity Wildcats to victory. Moss went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out five and walking zero. Conyer took the loss for Western Boone Varsity Stars. The hurler lasted two innings, allowing five hits and six runs while walking one. Conyer went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Western Boone Varsity Stars in hits.
