The High School cross country teams travelled to Cascade on a beautiful Saturday morning for the first ever Monon Conference Championships. With near perfect racing temperatures, the boys stepped up to the challenge with 8 of the 11 members getting lifetime best times, while the remaining 3 ran very close to their best ever times. Leading the Stars was Aiden Lester in 7th (17:26), who also made the All-Conference team. Alex Crockett received the 18th place ribbon in at 18:20, and Brennen Bivens ran for the 20th place ribbon with a time of 18:40. Owen Young ran with determination with a 24th place finish (19:04) followed by Brayden Schick in at 19:13 (28th). Eli Bishop (19:23), Caleb Crockett (20:03), Andres Morales (23:05) and Izacc Harsin (23:46), all had phenomenal races to help push the team to a third place finish. Not to be outshined, the girls also raced to their best abilities with rising temperatures and the sun trying to break through the clouds. Charlotte Stucky finished 4th (20:46) followed by Joan Gearheart 9th (22:07) and Abigayle Humphrey in 12th (22:33), and all 3 ladies made the new All-Conference Team. Janelle Gearheart had a season best time of 23:28 in 19th place for a ribbon, while Harmony Gilbrech finished 23rd with a new PR of 23:46 making Webo's All Time List. Kate Higer finished in 29th place with a 24:49, followed by Britney Richwine (25:12), Adalyn Sartin (25:33) and Katrina Brewer (26:53) and all finished with new lifetime bests. The top 5 runners' score of 67 points was enough to earn the title of Conference Champions for the 2025 season. Congratulations to both Cross Country teams for an amazing performance! They may be out there running as individuals but they have pushed each other as one team all season long. The Stars will race again on Saturday at North Central High School in the Sectional Championship.
