The two schools have played four times previously in the regional round of the post-season with each team winning twice. Last week, Cathedral jumped out to a 37-0 lead in the first ten minutes on its way to defeating Anderson 68-0. Eight Fighting Irish players scored touchdowns, and the Irish defense held the Indians to just 87 total yards as it shut out its third opponent this season. New Palestine won its tournament opening game at tenth-rated Plainfield, 42-7, last week. Quarterback Jacob Davis ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Josh Ranes also ran for two scores as the Dragons tallied 291 yards on the ground. The New Pal defense limited the Quakers to 121 total yards. The Dragons have won their last 24 games, including the 2024 Class 4A state championship, and 30 games in-a-row at home. New Palestine’s last loss at Kelso Stadium was week four of the 2021 season. The winner of Sectional 13 will face the winner of Sectional 14, either #7 East Central (8-2) or #8 Whiteland (9-2), in the regional round of the tournament next Friday.
