The Fighting Irish boys volleyball team claimed their first-ever IHSAA Sectional Championship in the inaugural IHSAA State Tournament. Cathedral defeated Heritage Christian 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-12) in the championship match. A balanced offensive attack led the Irish to the win with four players recording more than five kills. Jake Werne served four aces and earned nine digs. Cathedral defeated Lawrence North 3-0 and New Castle 3-0 in the opening rounds. Up next, the Irish will take on Center Grove at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 25 and, with a win, will play in the sectional championship at 6:00 PM. Regional games will be played at Center Grove High School.
