Cathedral vs Ben Davis: Game Preview Friday, August 22, 7:00 p.m. Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl at Butler University Radio Broadcast: 6:30 p.m. Online at https://foxsports1260.iheart.com/ iHeart Radio App https://ww.iheart.com/live/fox-sports-1260-am-905/ The 2025 Indianapolis Cathedral football team makes its debut tonight when the Fighting Irish kick off the school’s 107th season at Butler University against Ben Davis. Cathedral is ranked second in the Indiana Football Coaches Association Class 5A preseason poll behind reigning Class 4A champion New Palestine, which moves up a class due to the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Success Factor. The IFCA ranks Ben Davis tenth preseason in Class 6A. The Fighting Irish defeated the then defending state champion Giants, 24-6, last season to break a 15-game losing streak against Ben Davis. Each team scored a defensive touchdown. Irish linebacker Kyle Harden returned a fumble 86 yards in the closing seconds of the first half, while Notre Dame recruit, and eventual Indiana Mr. Football, Mark Zachery scored on a 100-yard interception return to put the Giants on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. The two schools played for the first time in 1955. Cathedral won its first five games against Ben Davis and six of the first seven meetings. The Giants then won 15 straight matchups with the Irish, from 1988 to 2023, before Cathedral’s 2024 victory. The Fighting Irish are 3-6 in games not played at BD's Giant Stadium.
