5A #2 Cathedral (1-1) vs Cincinnati St. Xavier (2-0): Game Preview Friday, September 5, 7:00 p.m. Key Stadium at University of Indianapolis Radio Broadcast: 6:30 p.m. Online at https://foxsports1260.iheart.com/ iHeart Radio App https://ww.iheart.com/live/fox-sports-1260-am-905/ Cathedral hosts Cincinnati St. Xavier tonight in high school football at the University of Indianapolis. The schools have split their last four meetings with each team winning on its home field. The Fighting Irish defeated the Bombers when they met last at UIndy in 2018, 20-14 in overtime, on the school’s 100th anniversary homecoming. In 2024, Cathedral’s Van Krisloff kicked a 22-yard field goal with 1:17 remaining to give the Irish a 31-28 lead at St. Xavier, but St. Xavier then drove 65 yards and scored on Chase Herbstreit’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Cam Taylor with 18 seconds left for a thrilling 35-31 victory. Neither team led by more than seven points as they combined for more than 800 yards of total offense. The Irish enter the contest with a 1-1 record after losing at Class 6A top-rated and defending state champion Brownsburg 29-0 last Friday. The Bombers are 2-0 following victories over Lakota West and Centerville. The St. Xavier defense, which features four Division I college recruits, is allowing opponents an average of just seven points and 124 yards per game this season. Tonight’s game is the first on the road for St. X, which will play seven of its ten scheduled contests at home this season.
