The Fighting Irish are 3-0 all-time against Anderson including sectional victories in 2013 and 2014. After playing in the 6A tournament the last three years, the Irish drop down to 5A under the IHSAA’s success factor rule. Cathedral is a Class 4A school by enrollment but has compiled a 30-3 record in seven previous seasons competing in Class 5A – winning state championships in 2013, 2014, 2020, and 2021. The Fighting Irish closed the regular season two weeks ago with a 28-21 victory at Warren Central. Running back Jimmy Pappas, a senior, ran the ball on 38 of Cathedral’s 59 offensive plays for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Anderson enters tonight on a seven-game losing streak following a week-two victory over Indianapolis Washington. The Indians have lost their last seven tournament games dating back to 2018. They have never advanced beyond the sectional round in 41 post-season appearances.
