Lake Central Athletics Weekend Round-Up Lake Central athletics stayed busy over the weekend with strong performances across multiple programs, highlighted by conference basketball action and competitive showings on the wrestling mats. Girls’ Basketball (7-5)(2-1 DAC) The Lady Indians split a pair of games over the weekend. On Friday night, Lake Central earned a hard-fought 34-24 conference victory over Michigan City. Neila Ogden led the scoring with nine points, while Allison Yott chipped in eight points and six rebounds. Emma Szany added seven points, and Jill Beaderstadt dominated the glass with an impressive 18 rebounds. On Saturday, LC fell to Plainwell, Michigan, 48-37. Beaderstadt paced the Indians with 22 points, while Ogden finished with six points and Szany pulled down six rebounds. Lake Central will return to conference play by hosting Crown Point on Friday night. Boys’ Basketball (3-0) The boys’ basketball team remained unbeaten with a win over Culver Academies, improving to 3-0 on the season. Noah Enyeart led the way with a standout performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. Cooper Kroncke was dialed in from long range, knocking down 5-of-8 three-pointers on his way to 18 points, while Jakob Billmeyer added 13. The Indians head to Griffith tomorrow night and host Morton on Saturday. Boys’ Wrestling The boys’ wrestling team competed at the Chris Traicoff Memorial Duals, finishing 12th overall with a 1-3 record. Lake Central dropped duals to Fishers (40-12), Hobart (41-30), and Mishawaka (43-36), while earning a 39-32 victory over Griffith. Girls’ Wrestling The girls’ wrestling team sent seven competitors to the LaPorte Invitational and finished eighth overall. Jasmyn Spraggins claimed the individual championship at 190 pounds. Leany Gold-Hurrins earned a runner-up finish at 170, and Genevieve Rogers placed third at 115. Khloe Cortez won 3 matches at 105, while Nasira Callaway and Caitlin Bice each picked up a win. Both the boys’ and girls’ wrestling teams will host Crown Point on Thursday evening, which will also serve as senior night for the girls’ program.
