Boys' Wrestling Defeats La Porte in a DAC Wrestling Dual Lake Central hosted the La Porte Slicers yesterday evening in a Duneland Athletic Conference wrestling dual. Lake Central got off to a hot start as the action began in the 113 pound weight class: At 113, Cruz Orueta made quick work of his opponent winning by fall. The momentum continued with Gabriel Ruano being victorious at 120 and Luke Neid winning at 126. Aidan Witry lost a last-second heartbreaker at 132 as he battled with a late reversal to tie the match with 5 seconds remaining. The Indians won two consecutive matches at 138 (Alexander Kucharz) and 144 (David Koscielski). The Slicers picked up consecutive wins at 50, 57, and 65 to tighten up the team score. The Indians earned pins at 175, Yomaniel Velazquez-Perez, and 190, Owen Pieters. La Porte was victorious at 215 and heavyweight before Caine Renko (106) finished the match on a high note tech falling his opponent. LC will wrestle the Lake County Championships on Saturday.
