Wrestling Falls to Portage on Senior Night Yesterday evening, the Indians wrestling team hosted the Portage Indians. Portage came out on top in the team scores but it was still a night to remember. LC celebrated two fine young seniors: Cameron Reed and Yomaniel Velazquez Perez. The night started with a great match as sophomore Christopher Gallardo earned a 2nd round pin! The wrestling opened in the 132lb weight class. LC dropped the first four matches before Chris Wartman earned a hard fought 12-11 comeback decision at 157. LC won again at heavyweight as Jake Luedtke performed very well. Cruz Orueta earned a 1st round fall at 113, and Luke Nied won at 126. The Indians will now ready for the IHSAA Sectional on 1/31. Boys' Basketball Uses Well-Rounded Effort in Road Win The Indians had a battle last night at Bishop Noll Institute as the end of the first quarter saw both teams deadlocked at 16. LC managed to take a 5 point halftime lead, before Noll battled back to take a third quarter lead. The lead exchanged hands several times before LC took a lead into the fourth and never looked back. The Indians went on to win 60-47, pushing their record to 9-4 overall. LC shared the ball well in this one as four player had four assists: Noah Enyeart, Evan Geller, and Cooper Kroncke. Enyeart led LC with 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Geller added 9 and 6. Jakob Billmeyer contributed 10 points. LC will host Valparaiso for teacher appreciation night tomorrow.
