Abigail Campbell State Bound/Girls' Basketball Season Comes to an End/Wrestling Sends 5 To Semi-State

The Indians performance on Saturday was highlighted by freshman Abigail Campbell's two championship swims. Campbell broke her own school record in the 200 IM. She did this with a time of 2:03.51. Campbell was also the champion in the 500 freestyle, defeating the field by over 10 seconds (5:03.97). The 200 medley relay team of Campbell, Mackenzie Conrath, Leah Castle, and Kaylie Schaffenberger finished in 3rd. Schaffenberger followed that swim with a 4th place finish in the 200 free. Lizaura Avina finished in 9th. Julene Haigh and Morgan Hampton finished 8/9 in the 50 respectively. Freshman Castle turned in an impressive 2nd place in the 100 fly. Phobe Pramuk finished in 5th in the fly and Haigh scored points in 8th. Taylor Jones followed with a 4th place swim in the 100 free. In the 500 free, Schaffenberger and Giuliana Rodriguez finished in 4th and 5th. Morgan Hampton, Conrath, Jones, and Haigh anchored the 200 free relay and finished in 4th. Hampton followed with an 8th place finish in the backstoke and Pramuk finished in 10th. Castle and Conrath finished 6th and 8th in the 100 breast, and to conclude the meet, LC finished 3rd in the 400 free relay. Schaffenberger, Jones, Haigh, and Campbell made that swim and earned a trip to the State Finals. Hobart Wrestling Regional Results: https://www.usabracketing.com/events/c2c2cbab-cd15-4ebb-be33-beb33f205886 LC qualified 14 wrestlers to the Hobart Regional on Saturday. Five LC wrestlers advanced on Saturday. The wrestling performances were highlighted by 1st place individual finished by Cruz Orueta at 113 pounds and Luke Nied at 126 pounds. Aidan Witry wrestled his way to a 2nd place finish at 132 pounds and Jake Luedtke did the same at heavyweight. James Matlon also advanced with his 4th place finish at 106 pounds. The Indians will wrestle Saturday at the East Chicago Semi-State. LC was led by sophomore Emma Myszak's 17 points and 6 rebounds. Senior Alex Myszak added 10 points and 3 steals. Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 F LC 3 11 16 8 38 Munster 6 4 11 1 22 The Indians used a tremendous defensive effort Friday night to pave their way to the Sectional Championship. The Indians held the Mustangs to just 22 points and only allowed double digit scoring in the 3rd. Jill Beaderstadt had 12 points, 12 boards, and 5 steals. E. Myszak added 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Neilo Ogden turned in a 7 point, 4 rebound, and 3 steal effort.
