IHSAA STATE WRESTLING FINALS: Cruz Orueta Finishes 6th and Named All-DAC

Cruz Orueta and Luke Nied try to complete their quest for an IHSAA State Championship this evening in the 2nd session. Winning tonight puts them on the podium tomorrow. Good luck to both! Go Indians! Orueta defeated Blake Doss of New Palentine on Friday evening to guarantee himself a spot on the podium. Nied lost by tech fall on Friday evening ending his excellent season as a State Qualifier. On Saturday, Orueta squared off against Kaid Jackson of Delta and lost a heartbreaker 8-5. Orueta rebounded by beating Caleb Morrow of Roncalli in a major decision, before losing the 5th place match. Cruz Orueta reached the podium as a 6th place finisher for the 2nd year in a row. Great Job Cruz and Luke! DAC Press Release: The DAC released its annual All-Conference team Monday night. Cruz Orueta was the lone Indian named to the All-DAC team. Cruz was rewarded for his outstanding, championship season. The full DAC press release is attached.
