The Indians' gymnasts competed in the 2026 IHSAA Sectional hosted by Crown Point on Saturday afternoon. To advance to Regional competition, teams must finish in the top 3. To advance to Regional competition as an individual, the top six place winners along with the next three individuals not on one of the advancing teams or an individual advancing in the All-Around competition move to the next round. In the vault exercise, Sophia Rodriguez and Kailynn Paat finished 9th and 10th respectively. Paat also finished 8th on the uneven bars. Gabrielle Arroyo earned a podium trip on the balance beam. Her beautiful routine earned her a 9.450 and 2nd place finish. Rodriguez placed 7th for LC. Paat, Gabrielle Robbins, and Arroyo finished in a pack on the floor routine: Paat tied for 8th, and Robbins and Arroyo tied for 10th. Paat made the podium in the challenging All-Around and placed 6th overall. The Indians will compete in Regional competition on Saturday at Portage. This meet came down to the wire. Valparaiso was the clear cut winner, but Lake Central, Portage, and Merrillville were in a dog fight for the final two spots. It came down to the last event and LC outscored Merrillville by over a point to secure their position for next weekend. The Indians finished 3rd as a team with a season best 106.450. This will be their 8th consecutive Regional appearance. LC has the 11th best team score in Indiana this year.
