Softball Wins Horseshoe Classic Behind 5 HRs from Iwema--Baseball Wins at Noblesville--B/G T/F Both Victorious at Ed Woodrick

Softball Earns 3 Wins on Saturday and Wins the Horseshoe Classic at Pendleton Heights The Indians are now 7-0 on the season after picking up 3 victories at the Horseshoe Classic at Pendleton Heights on Saturday. The Indians played the host Arabians in the opener and cruised to a 12-2 victory in a 5 inning game. LC's offense was electric: The Indians had 15 hits, including 4 that went from extra bases. Lexi Iwema had 5 RBIs and 3 hits, including a double and 2 HRs, to lead the way. Teagan Tripp had a pair of hits and a homerun. Maddie Such added 3 hits, and Emma Wilkins had a pair of hits. Such earned the victory on the mound, and Colbie Tressel pitched a scoreless fifth in the win. Game 2 was also called for run rule after a 12-0, 5-inning victory. Once again, Iwema led the way on offense as she ripped 2 more homeruns and drove in 6 runs. MaKayla Van Vossen had 2 hits and drove in 2. Sofia Beals homered and Such added a pair of hits. Tressel was the winning pitcher tossing 3 scoreless. Jada Lewis worked a perfect two innings of relief (6Ks). The championship game featured two state powerhouses: Lake Central and Center Grove. This was remained tight for a while, but LC managed to plate 5 in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. The Indians went on to win 8-2. Such tossed the complete game victory allowing just 4 hits. Madi Wainright homered in this one and had 2 hits. Iwema's incredible day continued and she once again homered and drove in 3: Her historic day included 8 hits, 14 RBIs, and a whopping 5 homeruns. Beals added 2 doubles, and Teagan Tripp had a pair of hits. The Indians have Chesterton up next. Full Box Scores from each game are attached. Baseball Picks up Hard Fought Win at Noblesville The varsity baseball team returned to its winning ways on Saturday with a great 3-2 road victory at Noblesville. The Millers were ranked in the top 5 in Indiana. LC pitched by committee in the one: Victor Villegas threw 3 innings for the win. Also contributing on the mound was Justin Makowski, Marc Passo, and Josh Sauter. Brayden Walls led the offense with 3 hits, including 2 that went for extra bases. The Indians will travel to La Porte tomorrow. LC is 3-2 overall. Box Score Attached Boys' and Girls' T/F Win the Ed Woodrick Invitational Lake Central's track and field program traveled to Munster HS on Saturday for the Ed Woodrick Invite. The boys team scored 147 points and bested the second place team Lowell by 51 points. The girls team scored 133.5 points and finished 13.5 ahead of second place Valparaiso and 14.5 in front of 3rd place Crown Point. The Indians made a lot of great birdies and had some good saves on a pretty tough course, against a strong field.
