Volleyball Sweeps Crown Point and Portage The Indians swept Crown Point 3-0 winning 28-26, 25-14, and 25-22. After a back-and-forth first set, the Indians dominated the remainder of the match. LC is unbeaten in the conference and overall and will host Portage tonight. On Monday night, LC took on Portage in a DAC match. The Blue Indians swept the Red Indians to move their record to 13-0 overall and 9-0 in the DAC. Also, much congratulations to Christian Czarnik as he signed his National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Trine University in Angola, Indiana! Golf Takes 4th in the Midwest Classic at Sandy Pines The Indians hosted the 11th annual Midwest Classic at Sandy Pines Golf Course. The varsity finished 4th overall in a challenging field. Cole Sullivan fired a 75, Cooper Kroncke shot a 76, and Yianni Boufis shot a 78 to lead LC. Also, scoring for the Indians was Logan Carroll with an 84. The team shot a 313. The Indians will play at La Porte's Beechwood GC in a DAC tri against the host Slicers and Crown Point Bulldogs tomorrow. Baseball Goes 2-1 on the Week The Indians added a conference win over Michigan City and split with highly ranked Penn on Saturday. On Tuesday, the Indians defeated the Wolves 16-1 after 4 1/2 innings of play. LC had 12 hits in this one and scored 12 in the first to cruise to victory. Jacob Forystek led the way with three hits and 3 RBIs. Parker Robinson added 2 hits/2 RBIs and Austin Brower had 2 hits/3 RBIs. This was a bullpen game for LC: Five different pitchers worked one innings. Owen Kopercinski was credited with the win. LC hosted the Penn Kingsmen in a DH on Saturday. Game 1 went to the Kingsmen as they defeated LC in 8 innings (5-4). Keegan O'Bryan added a pair of hits. Austin Brower doubled and Brayden Walls tripled in the loss. Marc Passo was the pitcher of record. The Indians used four pitchers in this one. LC found revenge in game 2 of the twin bill: They used a 5 runs 6th to break a 4-4 tie and cruise to a 9-4 victory. Tyler Thuftedal had 2 hits and drove in 3. Brower added 2 hits as well. Sautter earned his 1st career varsity win in his 2 scoreless innings of relief. Kopercinski threw 5 strong innings allowing just 4 runs, only one was earned. The Indians have Chesterton as their DAC foe this week. Softball Continues its Dominance at the Carmel Invite Lake Central cruised thru the field at the Carmel Invitational this weekend. The Indians defeated Noblesville 8-2, Brownsburg 15-0, and top ranked Penn 14-0 in route to the championship. Noblesville took an early lead and kept the Indians' ferocious offense at bay until the 4th. The Indians scored 7 over the final 3 innings to earn the win. MaKayla Van Vossen, Lexi Iwema, and Sofia Beals all homered for LC. Van Vossen drove in 3 and Beals 2 to pace the Indians. Maddie Such struck out 9 in her 6 innings of work to earn the win. In game 2 LC smashed Brownsburg 15-0. The Indians used 15 hits (8 for extra bases). LC scored in 4 of the 5 innings. Tegan Tripp had a day! She crushed two homeruns, had 4 hits and drove in 9 runs. Such also homered and added 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Addy Mikolanis added two hits and a triple and Piper Urbanski also had 2 hits. Colbie Tressel went the distance and fanned 6, allowing just 2 hits. The championship game featured two of the top dogs in Indiana: Lake Central and Penn. LC used the long ball again in this one as 5 of the 14 hits flew over the fence. Such, Madi Wainright, Iwema, Tripp, and Emma Wilkins all homered. Iwema drove in 4, and Such and Wainright each drove in 3. Tripp remained hot as pounded out 3 hits. The Indians are now 17-0 overall. Track and Field Competes Against Michigan City and Chesterton The boys hosted the Michigan City Wolves and the Chesterton Trojans, and the girls traveled to Chesterton for the same triangular. The boys finished 1-1 with a DAC win over MC and a DAC loss to Chesterton. The girls remained unbeaten in the DAC moving to 3-0-1 with their win and tie this week.
