Softball Wins Semi-State and Heads to State!

Game 1: Softball defeated Penn 5-0 in the IHSAA Semi-State semi-final to advance to the Championship game tonight. LC will play the winner of Westfield and Fort Wayne Carrol for a chance to go to the IHSAA State Championship next weekend in Lafayette. Maddie Such tossed a complete game gem, striking out 12 and allowing just five hits against state ranked #3 Penn. Such also added a 2-RBI double. Madi Wainwright added an RBI double. Tegan Tripp hit a solo HR in the 7th, and Emma Wilkins had a run scoring single. Semi-State Championship vs Carroll (FW) The winningest softball program in Indiana history was seeking its first State Finals appearance since 2021 and 1st Championship since 2004 (The Indians have won 3 state softball titles: 1992, 2002, and 2004). In order to advance the Indians had to face off against Carroll of Fort Wayne. Carroll only had a single loss on the season. The game remained scoreless for three innings, until the Indians scored 3 in the top of the 4th. Carroll didn't go away easily as they added a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 6th to make the score 3-2. LC added insurance runs on a 2-run HR by senior Tegan Tripp and went on to win 5-2. Tripp scored two runs and drove in 2 in this one: She also added a triple. Maddie Such added two hits and an RBI. She was also the winning pitcher, working the complete game and striking out 13. Sofia Beals had a big fly in the 3-run fourth that drove in 2. The Indians will play at Purdue's Bittinger Stadium on Friday night for the State Championship. LC will play the second game of the evening with an estimated start time of 7:00 PM CST/8:00 PM EDT. The Indians will square off against 30-1 Terre Haute North Vigo. Good luck girls and way to go!
