Golf--At Palmira GC, Lake Central hosted Merrillville and La Porte in boys' varsity and junior varsity golf. Both the junior varsity and varsity hit the ball really well. Lake Central varsity posted a round low 162 team score and the junior varsity for LC finished second with a score of 166. The full results for Lake Central and the tri-match are attached below. Varsity: Tyler Morton shot a 39, Cooper Kroncke 40, Sebastian Darak 41, Troy Howell 42, and Carter McCall 46 Junior Varsity: Matthew Tuley 40, Evan Swinarski 41, Austin Julovich 41, Charlie Mitchell 44, and Logan Carroll 45 Varsity Baseball: The Indians have now won 6 in a row to move to 9-5 overall. Lake Central opened up the offense scoring 26 runs in game 1 and 14 runs in game 2 against the visiting Michigan City Wolves. Brendan Smith and Alex Cuevas split game 1 on the mound, and the Indians pitched by committee in game 2 (Grant Mercer, Collin Cirks, Zachary Nicola, and Ryder Fernandez). Jacob Zimmerman, Michael Szatkowski, and Parker Robinson had 3 hits a piece in the first game. Tyler Colburn had 3 hits in the second game. The Indians had a combined 31 hits. Both box scores are attached below. JV Softball--The girls lost a heartbreaker at Hanover yesterday. Hanover started the scoring early with 2 in the 3rd and Lake Central mounted a furious comeback taking a 7-3 lead to the bottom of the 7th. Hanover managed 5 runs to win 8-7, giving the Indians just their second loss on the season. Sofia Beals had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, Abigail Grenchik homered and drove in 2, and Addison Doloszycki also had 2 hits and a HR. LC will host the NCC/DAC Challenge on Saturday morning. Varsity Softball--The top team in Indiana moved to 20-0 with two run-rule victories over Michigan City. Both Sofia Calderaro (no hitter and struck out 14) and Maddie Such (one hitter and struck out 14) earned wins on the mound. LC had 37 hits in the two games, including 8 for extra bases in game 1. Jolie Adams had 4 hits to lead the way; Taylor Schafer and Mackenzie Calinski contributed 3-hit efforts. The Indians had 7 go for extra bases in game 2. Lexi Iwema added a HR and 3 hits. Maddie Wainwright and Kaitlyn Streiler also had 3 hits each. The Indians will host the Lafayette Harrison Raiders on Friday in what will be a match-up of two of the top 10 teams in Indiana.
