Girls' Basketball Drops Road Game at Valpo

Varsity vs Valparaiso High School (43 - 47) Loss The girls' basketball team battled the Valparaiso Vikings for the DAC Championship on Friday night. It was a back-and-forth battle all evening and after four quarters it was tied at 32; Vanessa Wimberly's 3 point play with 18 seconds tied the game at 32. In the overtime, Valparaiso hit 3-3s on 4 possessions to pull away (after hitting one in regulation). Lake Central finished the DAC season in 2nd place with a 6-1 overall record. In this one, Wimberly led the charge with 19 points and 8 boards. Kailey Skurka snagged a career high 10 rebounds and gave great minutes off the bench. Ayla Krygier chipped in 13 points. The Indians travel to Hammond Morton on Wednesday and finish up the regular season slate on Thursday at home. The IHSAA release its sectional draw Sunday night. Lake Central drew the bye against the Munster Mustangs. They will play on Friday-2/7-at 6:00 PM at Crown Point HS. A win puts them in the championship which will occur Saturday night at 7 PM. The winner of the Crown Point sectional will play the winner of the Chesterton sectional.
