Girls' Basketball Defeats Morton: Ayla Krygier Reaches 1000 Points

Varsity vs Hammond Morton High School (63 - 46) Lake Central went on the road and defeated the Hammond Morton Governors by a score of 63-46 last night. This was Ayla Krygier's night as she led all scorers with 28 points on 9 of 14 shooting. Bella Soria stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points and a team high 7 rebounds. Vanessa Wimberly added 9 points for LC in the winning effort. Lake Central is now 16-7 overall and set to host Washington Township in the final tune-up before the postseason begins next Friday. On this night, senior forward Ayla Krygier became the 7th player in Lake Central girls’ basketball history to eclipse the 1000 points scoring mark. She currently has 1,020 points and counting. This is just a small feat in this young lady's storied Lake Central career. Ayla has been a four year letterwinner for the Lady Indians. She has been a part of 89 wins during this time: These wins include 2 outright DAC Championship, 3 Sectional Championships, 2 Regional Championships, 1 Semi-State Championship, and a State Finals appearance.
