Junior Varsity-- Friday night the boys' basketball teams hosted the McCutcheon Mavericks for Senior Night. The junior varsity team started off the night against an undefeated Mavericks' squad. The Tribe eventually came out on top, 55-52, after trailing by 7 points with 2 minutes remaining. The team was led by Junior David Aguilera who had 17 points, Freshman Christian Martinez had 12 points and Junior Dion Banks scored 15 points, which included the game winner. The team finishes the season with 13 wins and 6 losses. Varsity-- The varsity team finished the year winning 6 of their last 9 and is getting hot at the right time. LC blitzed a strong McCutcheon squad 67-56 on Friday wrapping up their regular season 8-13 overall. It was only fitting on that on senior night, four LC seniors led the way. Zach Greene had a game high 18 points; he also led LC with 8 boards. Jordan Ireland chipped in 12 points and 4 rebounds, and Noah Sabador got hot from deep connecting on 4 three balls for a dozen himself. Spencer Gail chipped in 6 points and had a team high 4 assists. The Indians will play next at home in the IHSAA Sectional on Friday night against the winner of Hammond Central and Munster. Tip-off will be at approximately 7:15 pm.
