NWI Times and Post Tribune: Wimberly and Krygier Named All-Area

The Northwest Indiana Times and Post Tribune released its all-area girls' basketball team. Lake Central had two representatives. Vanessa Wimberly was named to the 1st team and Ayla Krygier the 2nd team. Here is what the Times said, "Vanessa Wimberly, Lake Central, Sr., G Stats: 14.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 3.7 spg The Alabama A&M signee is a 2025 McDonald's All-American nominee and Indiana All-Star candidate. One area coach described Wimberly as, "A nightmare to opposing ball handlers" who is "absolutely dangerous in transition." Wimberly had her best offensive season yet shooting 42% from the field and averaging 14.7 points per game. She concluded her career at LC with a 90-23 record, and 26-2 in conference. " Ayla Krygier was named 2nd Team All-Area. Here is what the times said, "Ayla Krygier, Lake Central, Sr., F Stats: 15.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.6 spg The four-year varsity letterman nearly doubled her scoring after averaging 8.5 points per game as a junior. The 2025 Indiana All-Star candidate and Large School All-State selection shot 56% from the field and locked in as the Indians' seventh player to surpass 1,000 career points.
