LC Athletics Have An Amazing Weekend (8/22-8/23)

Varsity Football Defeats Munster Let's give a huge round of applause to our varsity football team for their impressive victory over the Munster Mustangs on Friday night, with a final score of 45-28! Our offense was on fire, racking up over 500 yards. Senior running back Cam Reddick had a monster game, rushing for 204 yards and scoring four touchdowns! Senior Christian Reed was a monster and tallied 165 yards on the ground including several huge runs. Junior Jacob Turley also had an incredible night, adding two touchdowns of his own. Senior Logan Wroghton led our receiving corps with 25 yards. On defense, Cam Reddick and junior Brody Ramirez led the team with eight tackles each. Brody also had a key interception, and seniors Brian Rzyski and Luke Felus each recovered a fumble. Congratulations to the entire team on a fantastic win! Looking ahead, this Friday is our home opener! Their next game is Saturday versus Merrillville at LCHS with a 10 AM kick-off. Boys Soccer Defeats South Bend St. Joseph The Indians traveled east yesterday and secured their second victory of the season, improving to 2-0-0 (1-0). After a scoreless first half, George Karabatsos opened the scoring, followed by a goal from Ethan Terry, and the match was capped off by Ethan Brewer. Final score: Lake Central 3 – South Bend Saint Joe 0. Next Game: Wednesday, August 27 vs. Crown Point, JV starts at 5 PM Girls Soccer win Two at SBSJ Invite On Friday night, the Indians battled back for an impressive win against South Bend Saint Joseph. After falling behind 0-1, Lake Central responded with three unanswered goals to secure the victory. Phoebe Fogarty scored twice, and Ella Crowley added another to seal the 3-1 comeback. The Lady Indians returned to South Bend on Saturday to take on Goshen. This contest ended in a 3-1 victory, improving their record to 3-0 (1-0). Goals were scored by Phoebe Fogarty, Finley Golder, and Claire Widstrand. Assists came from Claire Widstrand (2), Kiki Celeski, and Gabby Rossi-Powers. NEXT GAME: Thursday, August 28th at Crown Point, JV begins at 5 PM. Girls XC Win Larry James Invite The girls cross country team won the Larry James Invite with a score of 48. They were led by Macey Thompson who was the individual champion with a time of 18:07. Lana Bruggeman took 3rd, Chloe Neal took 4th and Aubrey Neal took 9th. Alexa Neal led JV by placing 2nd overall and Maddie Underwood placed 9th. Next Race: Rudy Skorupa Invite at LCHS, 9 AM Boys XC Finishes 3rd at Larry James Invite The Boys Cross Country team finished 3rd place on Saturday with at team score of 77. They were led by Ben Perschon with his 2nd place finish in a time of 15:47.76 and newcomer Lucca Neves in 11th at 16:55.66. The JV team also finished 3rd led by John Wilocki in 12th place with a time of 20:15.39. Next Race: Rudy Skorupa Invite at LCHS, 9 AM JV & Frosh Volleyball play in LC Invite The LCHS JV Volleyball team went 4-0 while winning the LC Invite. In pool play they defeated Lowell (25-11, 25-16) & BNI (25-11, 25-12). In the Championship Bracket they defeated Chesterton (10-25, 25-17, 15-10) and Crown Point 21-25, 20-25, 15-8). The Freshman Volleyball Team went 2-2 for the weekend while playing against JV teams. In pool play, they lost to Crown Point (18-25, 11-25) and defeated Illiana Christian (25-22, 25-20). In the first consolation bracket, the freshman team finished 2nd, falling to Harrison (15-25, 15-25) and defeating BNI (10-25, 25-12, 15-9), Volleyball will travel to Valparaiso on Tuesday for a 5 PM DAC match-up. Boys JV Tennis-Lowell Invitational The JV Tennis team travelled to Lowell on Saturday and swept the competition. Lowell (5-0), KV (5-0) and the Hybrid Team (5-0). A hybrid team is a combination of all teams in attendance. NEXT MATCH: JV ONLY on Wednesday @ Highland, 4 PM and V/JV vs. Illiana Christian on Thursday at 4 PM
