Girls Cross Country Team Claims Seventh Straight Sectional Title The girls cross country team continued their dominant postseason run, capturing their seventh consecutive sectional championship on Saturday with an outstanding team score of just 17 points. The team was led by Macey Thompson, who claimed the individual sectional title, crossing the finish line in a blazing time of 17:25. Right behind her was Chloe Neal, finishing as the runner-up, while Lana Bruggeman secured third place, giving the team a clean sweep of the top three spots. Adding to the impressive performance, Aubrey Neal and Sara Fillipo finished 5th and 6th respectively, rounding out the scoring five for the team. Roxann Martinez also had a strong race, placing 18th. All six runners earned All-Sectional honors, highlighting the depth and strength of the squad. With this victory, the team now advances to the Regional Championship, set to take place this coming Saturday at New Prairie. The highlight of the day came from senior Ben Perschon, who claimed the individual sectional title with a commanding time of 15:36, leading the field from start to finish. Sophomore Lucca Neves followed with an impressive run of his own, placing third overall in 16:01, helping to solidify the team’s second-place finish. Rounding out the top five for LC were Eli Tyrpin, Ethen Gonzalez, and Trevor MacFarland, all of whom finished within the top 23, contributing crucial points in a highly competitive race. The team’s collective effort secured their advancement to the boys’ regional meet, where they’ll look to build on their momentum and continue their postseason run.
