In a meet that was closer than the score, the Slicers Girls Swimming and Dive team fell to Culver Academies 73-112. The Slicers opened the meet with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay: Cali Hatala (backstroke), Grace Caviston (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Isabel Barron (freestyle), getting out-touched by Culver by .33 seconds. It was a season best time for the girls. Next, Grace Caviston won the 200 Freestyle by 9 seconds. Caviston also won the 100 Breaststroke. Cali Hatala won the 200 Individual Medley and finished a close second in the 100 Backstroke. Isabel Barron easily won both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. The girls finished the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Barron, Hatala, Caviston and Hakim. Winning so many events and still losing the meet is a hard pill to swallow. However, LaPorte just couldn't keep up with Culver's depth. Overall, there were a lot of really good races, and our girls should be congratulated. LaPorte hosts Lowell, Oregon Davis, and Calumet this Saturday in a Quad meet. Their record falls to 4-2. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
