Slicers fall in OT to Lake Central, 60-56

The La Porte Slicers boys varsity team could not sustain a fast start in their DAC opener, falling 60-56 in OT to visiting Lake Central. La Porte led 15-3 after the first quarter and 28-19 at half. A big third quarter by Lake Central proved to be pivotal, as the visiting team outscored the Slicers 20-8. La Porte got down by as many as 6 in the fourth before a chaotic last few minutes ensued, where La Porte's Griffin Ott-Large knocked down 2 FTs with 0:01 left on the clock to force OT. La Porte ran out of gas in overtime, falling 60-56. With the loss, La Porte falls to 9-3 (0-1 DAC). La Porte was led by Griffin Ott-Large with 28 points, 5 assists. Destin Matzke had 10 points, 10 rebounds and Tim Knoll added 9 points. The Slicers are back in action next Tuesday at undefeated South Bend Adams.
