LP Boys Swimming Falls to New Prairie in a Very Close Meet

It came down to diving. With the Slicers diverless, New Prairie picked up 13 unanswered points. That proved to be the difference in a meet that was well matched. New Prairie brought a big team, while LaPorte swam 9 boys. While NP had the depth, LP had the lead in special strokes. LaPorte opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Hugo Luna-Zetina (backstroke), James Quadlin (breaststroke), Roman Garay (butterfly), and Carson Retseck (freestyle). James Quadlin won the 200 Individual Medley. Carson Retseck won the 50 Freestyle, with a lifetime PR. Vijay Pillai won the 100 Butterfly with Aedan Bailey finishing 5th with a big lifetime PR. Roman Garay and Carson Retseck went 1-2 in the 100 Freestyle. Retseck had another lifetime PR. Garay also won the 100 Backstroke with Noah Waak finishing second. A big shoutout to Hugo Luna-Zetina, who had a lifetime PR in the 100 Breaststroke. Luna-Zetina is a backstroke specialist, and he really stepped up to the place in the breaststroke, when needed. The Slicers finished the meet with a big win in the 400 Freestyle Relay with: Retseck, Garay, Luna-Zetina and Quadlin. LaPorte hosts Knox next Thursday. Their record falls to 10-7. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
