Freshman vs Lake Central High School (40 - 26) Win Tonight, the La Porte Slicers won a thriller of a game on the road against the Lake Central Indians 40-26. The Indians struck first on the opening drive going up early 6-0. It wasn’t long after the Slicers offense answered back with a 30-yard touchdown by Isiah Hancock capped off by a Reed Raymond 2pt conversion. Lake Central was able to get one more score before the quarter ended to go up 12-8. Late in the 2nd quarter Bryce Jones came up huge for the Slicers by intercepting a screen on the Indians 1-yard line. Raymond punched it in for his first score of the night to put the Slicers up 14-12 going into the half. In the 3rd quarter La Portes defense was able to force Lake Centrals offence to punt from their end zone where once again Bryce Jones came up huge with a blocked punt to give the Slicers the ball back on the Indians 4-yard line. Raymond ran the ball in for his 2nd touchdown of the night and was also successful on for his second 2pt try of the night. Lake Central answered back with a score of their own to keep the game close with a score of 22-20 La Porte after 3 quarters of play. Early in the 4th Reed found the endzone for the 3rd time in the game to help put the Slicers up 28-20. The Indians fought back and returned the next kickoff back for a touchdown keeping the game close 28-26 LP. Adam Uklaja made a huge heads up play by getting on the ball when Lake Central attempted an onside kick. Raymond was able to find the endzone for a 4th time of the night to put the Slicers ahead 34-26 with a little over 5 minutes left in the game. On the next kickoff Aiden Pieszchala was able to recover a fumble to give La Porte the ball back. In commanding fashion, the Slicers found the endzone for the 6th time of the night and a very impressive 5th rushing touchdown by Reed Raymond to put the Slicer up 40-26. Huge shout out to the 5 big guys up front Mercado, Rojo, Killhaney, Hernandez, and Roble who opened holes all night for Raymond to power through.
