Boys Track Sweeps Valpo and Michigan City

In the last double dual of the 2026 season, the Slicers left victorious with a sweep vs. Michigan City and Valparaiso. Leading the charge was the Slicers Throws crew who swept both the discus and shot put events against both teams. In the Discus, Malachi Washington continued his remarkable senior season by finishing 1st overall with a throw of 134-2. Fellow senior Giancarlo Calderon finished 2nd overall with a personal best throw of 121-00, and Griffin Ott-Large 3rd with a personal best distance of 115-08. In the Shot Put competition, Junior Casey Cochran set a new personal best throw of 52-5 (which puts him #13 in LPTF history), Washington was 2nd at 51-6.5, and Freshmen Parker Welsh was 3rd at 39-9. Also earning overall wins was sophomore Caleb Rose who won both the 1600m and 3200m events with times of 4:41.44 and 10:22.04 respectively. In the jumps, junior Destin Matzke continued his winning ways with performances of 6-2 in the High Jump, and setting a new personal best distance of 22-1.5 in the Long Jump (which puts him #6 all time In LPTF History). Fellow Junior Preston Scheidt backed him up with a height of 5-10 in High Jump good for 3rd overall, and a new personal best of 20-7.5 in the long jump.
