Jasmyn Moreno’s Big Day Propels La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers Past Merrillville May 6, 2026 vs. Merrillville Jasmyn Moreno collected three hits in three at bats, as La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers defeated Merrillville 14-4 on Wednesday. Moreno singled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning. La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers scored eight runs in the first inning on the way to victory. McKenna Long was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Halo Resendez drew a walk, scoring one run, Ava Moses drew a walk, scoring one run, a steal of home scored one run, Ava Logan drew a walk, scoring one run, and one run scored on another play. A single by Resendez, a walk by Moses, and a walk by Madelynn Allen helped La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers extend their early lead in the second. La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers added one run in the third. Brienna Johnson singled to right field, making the score 13-0. Aubree Kollar started in the circle for La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers. The hurler surrendered two hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Allen appeared in relief for La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers. Resendez, Moses, and Johnson each drove in one run for La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers. Logan paced La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 17 walks for the game. Abby Culp, Logan, Moreno, Johnson, Kollar, Long, and Allen each stole multiple bases for La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers. La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers stole 26 bases in the game. La Porte Junior Varsity Slicers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Long made the most plays with six.
