LaPorte Slicer Varsity Lose To Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen By GameChanger Media LaPorte Slicer Varsity could not keep pace with Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen 5-1 on Thursday. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after LaPorte Slicer Varsity committed an error, and Landon Johns grounded out, each scoring one run. Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen added one run in the third after Colten Handley tripled down the left field line. Noah Deeds earned the win for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking four. Khalen Matzke took the loss for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. The hurler went six innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out seven and walking one. Cody Benedict led LaPorte Slicer Varsity with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Benedict, Noah Combs, and Jon Rinkel each collected one hit for LaPorte Slicer Varsity. Kamdon Putz, Handley, Brady Francis, Cayson Meyer, and Drew Ginter each collected one hit for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. Maddux Kuhnle, Handley, Meyer, and Johns each drove in one run for Mishawaka Varsity Cavemen. LaPorte Slicer Varsity play at home on Tuesday against Valparaiso Vikings in their next game.
