Slicer Lacrosse took down Victory Christian Academy in an 18-5 victory on their Play for Jake fundraiser night. The offense was led by Max Burke, who had an impressive 9 goal/1 assist performance. Jack Borrelli added 5 goals to the count, and Lincoln Girard showcased his ability to move the ball, tallying 5 assists. On the defensive side, Vinny Balich led with 7 ground balls and 5 takeaways. Landen Buck held firm with 3 ground balls and 3 takeaways. Goalies Lilly Wilson and Lucky Post stood on their heads, allowing only 5 goals collectively. The Slicer defense has now held 10 of their 12 opponents to single digits. The specialists had a night as well, with Ian Rowland, Ethan Bair, and Chase Kowalski combining to win 18 of 23 faceoffs. With the Play for Jake foundation at the game, the team held a jersey ceremony, sold tee shirts, and hosted a Chuck-a-Ball halftime fundraising event. The partnership game was an awesome reminder that lacrosse builds bonds much deeper than just on the field. La Porte remains 2nd in their division behind South Bend Bears. The last regular season game will be played at Argos on 5/12, and State Championship selections will be finalized Thursday 5/14!
