LaPorte Girls Swimming and Diving Falls to Elkhart 98-85

By Brahim Hakim | Dec 16, 2023 12:39 PM

The Slicers hosted the Elkhart Lions today, and fell 98-85, in a close meet. LaPorte had some really good races, but a few technical errors, plus the lack of divers, kept the Slicers out of the win column. LaPorte opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay with: Regan Hughes (backstroke), Cali Hatala (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle). Cali Hatala won the 200 Individual Medley, and had a big lifetime PR in the 500 Freestyle to finish a close second. Lily Siford won the 50 Freestyle with an excellent finish, to outtouch Lynn Metzcus of Elkhart. Noor Hakim won both the 100 Butterfly, and 100 Breaststroke.. Hakim was the only Slicer to win all four of her events. The Freshman standout continues to work every day with tenacity and dedication. Shoutout to Carmen Eguizabal, who seems to have a PR in the 100 Breaststroke nearly every meet. Eguizabal finished fourth. In the 100 Freestyle, Katelyn Peterson also had a lifetime PR to finish second. LaPorte finished the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay behind: Abigail Burger, Hatala, Siford, and Hakim. The Slicers host Hobart this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Always proud. Go Slicers! Coach Brahim
