The Slicers traveled to Lake Central on this frigid day, and finished 6th in a very fast DAC Championship Meet. Nearly every Slicer dropped time in their events, as their hard work throughout the season is paying off in a big way. Starting off the meet, the 200 Medley Relay team of : Abigail Burger (backstroke), Cali Hatala (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle), finished 6th with a season best time of 2:03.85. Every girl had a PR split on the relay. In the 200 Freestyle, Regan Hughes and Abigail Burger both finished in the points going 15th and 16th respectively. Cali Hatala finished 11th in teh 200 Individual Medley with a PR of 2:28.28. Lily Siford broke into the 26s today in her 50 Freestyle, going 26.68 for 15th. Liz Luna dropped 3 seconds to finish 20th. In a big boost for the team, Chloe Chezem returned to diving after an injury to finish 14th. Noor Hakim dropped over 2 seconds in her 100 Butterfly to finish 14th in 1:07.21. Lyla Bannwart finished 18th with another big time drop. Lily Siford continued her strong swims going 1:00.68 in the 100 Free for 12th. Katelyn Peterson also had a nice PR finishing 16th. Cali Hatala finished 10th in the 500 Freestyle, nearly breaking into the 5:40s. The 200 Freestyle Relay of: Regan Hughes, Burger, Peterson, and Siford had a great swim to finish 6th. Burger and Hughes then went 13th and 14th in the 100 Backstroke. Burger had a 3 second time drop, and Hughes had a season PR. Sofie LaRocco also had a nice time drop to finish 21st. Noor Hakim finished 9th in the 100 Breaststroke, going a lifetime PR of 1:12.43. Hakim's finish was the highest individual finish for a Slicer today. Carmen Eguizabal and Emma Boon finished 18th and 19th respectively with PRs all around. The Slicer 400 Freestyle Relay of: Hughes, Peterson, Hatala, and Hakim had a big time drop to finish 6th in 4:08.98. Hatala broke the minute barrier going 59.93, and Hakim anchored in 1:00.64. The Coaches and I couldn't be prouder of the effort and growth this team has shown. It's been a gruelling season, and after we host Merrillville tomorrow, the girls team will start the taper process.
