The LaPorte Slicers finished 4th as a team in the sectional hosted by LaPorte on January 27th. The Slicers qualified 10 wrestlers to the regional tournament that is hosted by Crown Point. Riley Griffin(8-6) and Sam Pressler(17-16) both won a sectional championship at their respective weight class. Griffin, who advanved to the semi finals via a bye, defeated New Prairie's Skaggs by a score of 13-4 to advance to the sectional finals. In the sectional final, he was able to capture the title by defeating Valparaiso's Seramur by a score of 8-4. Pressler defeated Chesterton's Watkins, Michigan City's Ferrell, and New Prairie's Ziegler all via a first period pin to capture his sectional title. Claiming a second place finish at the sectional was Josh England(23-6), Jackson Hague(18-12), and Christian Ford(12-11). Earning third place at the sectional was Brendan Maas(9-17), Isaac Kleist(23-9), and Lucas Marshall(10-10). The last two wrestlers to qualifiy for the regional tournament were Landyn Hunt(18-9) and Porter Ivankovig(24-11) via the fourth place finish at the sectional. The regional tournament is this Saturday, February 3rd at Crown Point.
