The Slicers Girls Swimming and Dive team traveled to Valparaiso tonight to face off against 13 other schools. The Slicers are returning most of the team for Finals on Saturday. All three LaPorte relays, and 3 individual swims made it into the 'A-Championship' Finals on Saturday, and 12 other individual swims made it into the 'B-Consolation Finals'. Top 8 Finishes: 200 Medley Relay: Abigail Burger (backstroke), Cali Hatala (breaststroke), Noor Hakim (butterfly), and Lily Siford (freestyle), finished 3rd. 200 Freestyle Relay: Burger, Liz Luna, Katelyn Peterson, and Regan Hughes finished 8th. 400 Freestyle Relay: Hatala, Siford, Peterson, & Hakim finished 4th. Top 8 Individual Finishes: Noor Hakim finished 7th in the 200 Individual Medley (dropping 5 seconds) and 8th in the 100 Breaststroke. Cali Hatala finished 8th in the 200 Individual Medley (dropping 4 seconds). Top 16 Finishes: Regan Hughes finished 11th in the 200 Freestyle & 12th in the 500 Freestyle. Abigail Burger finished 12th in both the 200 Freestyle & 100 Backstroke. Hatala finished 9th in the 500 Freestyle. Lily Siford finished 10th in the 50 Freestyle and 9th in the 100 Freestyle. Carmen Eguizabal finished 16th in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke. Lyla Bannwart finished 13th in the 100 Butterfly. Katelyn Peterson finished 14th in the 500 Freestyle, with a 20 second time drop! Sofia LaRocco finished 16th in the 100 Backstroke. There were big time drops for just about every Slicer swimmer tonight, and, even our girls who didn't make top 16 had some pretty fantastic swims. Including diving, 11 out of 16 athletes are retuning for finals on Saturday. The Coaches and I are looking forward to Saturday, and can't wait to see how our team does. Always proud. Go Slicers!
